well without new areas-maps n story (not titles anymore thx) gw will be just a place for memories, i wont say for new players after GW2 since - imagine yourself standing infront of 2 games, one old 3+years other few weeks with uber cool graphic ect ect! what will u chose?(the price wont be such a deal, sides ppl buying games coz they r NEW,not many ppl in shop will care about 3+years old game). yes not everyone but MOST of ppl will buy GW2 which is good for anet.
And if GW2 wont be really good go back to GW?dont think so,just go play other games. Even now ppl screaming events sucks n anet doesnt put anything enjoyable anymore. And so im not telling GW will be gone but became a small comunity for few ppl wanting to 1.just play whatever 2.grind for GW2 3.wanna try a game which some friend gave em for free (has GW2 now muhaha) = not mmo anymore, more or less single player game.
Who knows...im sure anet wont let gw die so easily ..but naturaly put all they have into gw2 n so the players =b
And for rare weapons - just ppl colecting rare weapons will care about u having rare weapon, other wont even reco them(they want tormented weapons!).N these ppl that knows whats going on already played long enought to have more or less all they need - n go to gw2. i would sell ~ cheers

The market crash is happening every day, just not in the manner most expect.
Many of those rarest of items are simply no longer for sale. The high end traders are dwindling in numbers.
As the value of rare items falls so to does the incentive to sell such items, added to that is the fact that fewer new rare items are being discovered so the chances of replacing an item you sell with something better is slim.
It is getting to the piont where a single high end item will change hands 4-5 times including returning to the orriginal seller.

Every new skin which is brought into the game now starts to devaluate immediately. There are very few items which hold thier value. This is because ANet have tried to make the rare items more accessable to people who before, wouldn't be able to afford them.
Luckily ANet don't seem to be touching the rare minipets atm, because they are both hold thier value, and are useful for the HoM.

Have to agree with several peoples posts here, the crash is happening and will only continue to do so. Several reasons why including GW2, folks spending money on titles so they have less disposable gold to spend on 'luxury' items that will be worth next to nothing when GW2 comes out and thsoe who are doing titles have less time to actually go buy items that they really do not need.
It also takes longer for folks to get the gold they need due to farming issues (hate using nerf).
I see lots of people try to sell but no takers.
So 'Yes' there will be a crash and it is happening and will continue to do so, times are hard.
Whilst so many folks are title hunting if there was some way to help reduce costs of some of the titles then you may see buying increase due to more gold available, but when several titles cost 2000k it is a lot to depart with. Well done to those who did have the capital in the beginning and managed to get the titles.

Frankly I dont care. I have always either went out and earned what I wanted or searched the market enough and found it cheap.
I see no reason to be able to take any weapon/item from GW to GW2.

alot of old schoolers that i chat with on a daily basis are intent on not even purchaseing GW2, i think that the number of ppl in gw 1 will either relativly remain the same or even go up, with the release of GW2 they will proabably cut the price on gw1 so ppl who couldnt afford the big down payment on the game with no monthly fees will run out and buy it. not to mention, cant you put a wepon set in your HOM? largely i dont think the prices on those weps will change. at least not by much. just my opinion

Rare items prices have already crashed.
Ultra rare item prices will never crash.
Thist kinda sums it up.

Nothing is Rare Anymore in the current game stats imo, As Romeus said only the ultra rare items are the ones still keeping up, mainly because they can't be found anymore.

Even after GW2 release there will still be players playing GW1. Some of those players will still have some big money and the buying power to pay for the last few rarities that will remain on active accounts.
So unless something really terrible happens (again) the market for the uber rares should remain in it's current state.
